OMG this is the Angry Robot slap-down of YA covers with faceless girls in gowns. I HOPE THE OTHER PUBLISHERS ARE WATCHING.
(Book description from goodreads:
Miriam Black knows when you will die. She’s foreseen hundreds of car crashes, heart attacks, strokes, and suicides.
But
when Miriam hitches a ride with Louis Darling and shakes his hand, she
sees that in thirty days Louis will be murdered while he calls her name.
Louis will die because he met her, and she will be the next victim.
No matter what she does she can’t save Louis. But if she wants to stay alive, she’ll have to try.)

This. Looks. AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteMy heartbeat literally quickened as I looked from cover to description and back again. When the heck does this come out? Is it already out? Do you have a copy?
Print edition of Blackbirds is on-sale May 3rd in the UK/EU and slightly earlier in the US/CAN + eBook. Aus/NZ to follow in a few weeks. Should be available to pre-order from all good bookstores...
ReplyDeleteDarren
Angry Robot
It's such an appealing package all around, Darren. Congratulations to you and to Chuck! (My son points out that the effect is reminiscent of Itachi's Dusk Crow "genjutsu" in Naruto. I wonder if anyone else saw that?)
ReplyDeleteAt the risk of lionising your blog comments, I should mention that that brilliant cover artwork was by award-winning South African designer and all round great guy Joey HiFi, who has also illustrated the sequel, Mockingbird (out at the end of the year).
ReplyDeleteArt direction and original concept was by, well, modesty prevents me, couldn't possibly comment, humbled as I am, etc etc.
Aw, hell, Marco, you're a genius. And so is Joey HiFi. There, I said it.
ReplyDeleteI hope YA designers everywhere pee their collective pants.
Death to iStock.
I'm getting carried away. BUT ONLY A LITTLE.
Love this. Would grab it off the shelf in an instant.
