My editor sent me a finished copy of
Monstrous Beauty today. What a glorious surprise. I burst into tears of joy when I opened the package (I was expecting an ARC of one of my tour mates). It's stunning in person. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the book
glows. And there was a total surprise on the back cover!
 |
| These are all taken in natural light. Look at her luminescent back! |
 |
| I love the spine. I would choose that book off a shelf. |
 |
| Inside left flap. Eerie water! Popping letters! |
 |
| Inside right flap. |
And on the back...
what have we here?!
 |
| HOLY SMOKES! |
 |
| The kiss up close! You know you want to study it. |
The paper is beautiful and thick, the font is old-fashioned and perfect, and the hardcover case itself (under the dust jacket) is ivory, with the texture of old paper, or perhaps leather. The whole result is
so pleasing. I can't wait until everyone has a chance to hold one in their hands.
Thank you, thank you to my wonderful publisher, Farrar, Straus and Giroux.
WOW. That is so amazing. Congratulations!! I'm smiling so big right now!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get a beautiful copy for my shelf!
And I'm going to put on lipstick, which I never wear, and plant a big ol' kiss over my signature in your copy of the book, Asheley!
DeleteIt's gorgeous! And hello... LOVE the kiss! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThat sly kiss. Where did that come from?! Thank you, Katy! And I want to meet you!
DeleteIt looks gorgeous! Congrats :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lea! Holding your book for the first time is second only to holding your baby for the first time.
DeleteBeth, I would run straight over to see it, except I have to go downtown after work! I'm so happy--I might cry, too! I'll come soon! I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteCarol, for old times' sake we should leave our houses together and meet each other half way on 56th Street! *Smooch!*
DeleteThursday morning at 8:55?
DeleteCongratulations! This is so exciting! I can't believe how close we're getting to the real life RELEASE DAY!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kendall! I know, September 4 is around the corner. I have a lot of guest posts to write before then!
DeleteBETH! It is so, soooo beautiful. I can't wait to buy my own copy and proudly display it on my self. (And that kiss!! Love it.)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Erin! I'ma come to NH someday to visit it on your shelf!
ReplyDeleteYou must be so thrilled! It's just beautiful! : )
ReplyDeleteAnd the kiss! Wow!
Thank you, Linda! (The kiss was SUCH a surprise!)
DeleteThat is awesome! Congrats both on the achievement of finishing the book as well as having a cover you love. That is a rare combine!
ReplyDeleteYou're right, Pete! I feel lucky--this cover is so well suited to the book.
DeleteBeautiful! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cari!
DeleteOooooooh, that is SUPER-pretty. Good job not falling victim to one of the many, many terrible covers out there. Speaking as someone who totally judges by covers, I would so pick that up.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alice! This morning my friend Carol (above) stopped by to see it and totally used the word I failed to dredge up all day yesterday: "restrained." The cover is just so perfectly restrained. It's like a gift to me.
DeleteLOVE it! Cant wait to have my own copy!
ReplyDelete:-)
DeleteIt's even better than I expected. Congrats, Beth!
ReplyDeleteWait till you see it in real life, Angel. I'm realizing that it's one of those covers that doesn't photograph the way it really appears. It irresistible, almost mysterious, when it's sitting on a table. Like, you don't see the guy's face at all from most angles, just her reaching for the kiss.
DeleteHi. It's this book a standalone or a series ? And good job in the cover ! It looks fantastic ! =D
ReplyDeleteHi Stella! The book is a standalone. And I can't take any credit for the cover!
Deleteit looks amazing! can't wait to purchase the final copy =)
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! I can't wait to get a physical copy. Are you going to still be on tour with Fierce Reads when it comes to Bethesda, MD on October 17? If so, I will wait until then so I can buy a copy there to support the library and indie bookstore who sells the copies and to get it signed by you! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Amber,
ReplyDelete(By the way, thank you for your tweet and facebook updates! You're a PR dynamo!)
Unfortunately my leg of the Fierce Reads tour ends with Asheville NC on the 23rd of September. But someday we'll be in the same place at the same time and I'll sign whatever copy you have!
No problem - anytime! :)
DeleteAw, that's okay. Then I'll look for a copy next time I go out and yes, I'm sure we'll be at the same place at the same time at some point! ;)
